By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Belize City Council has announced a temporary closure of Regent Street beginning Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 12:00 pm, to facilitate preparations for the 2025 Independence Day Ceremony.

The affected stretch runs from Bishop Street to the Swing Bridge, a key corridor in the heart of downtown Belize City. The closure will remain in effect until the conclusion of Independence Day festivities, as crews set up for official events and public celebrations.

Closure Details:

Nearby landmarks such as Battlefield Park, Albert Street, and Brodies will remain accessible via alternate routes. The Belize City Council encourages motorists to plan ahead and use detours to avoid delays.

Public Advisory: Residents and visitors are asked to cooperate with traffic personnel and heed the signs during the closure.

The Belize City Council said it reaffirms its commitment to ensuring a safe and celebratory environment for this year’s Independence Day.
