By Zoila Palma: The Cabinet, during its regular meeting this week, received an update on the ongoing Green Belize Reforestation Project, which aims to plant one million trees across the country as part of Belize’s broader efforts to restore degraded landscapes and build climate resilience.
The initiative supports sustainable land use while addressing the urgent need to combat land degradation and environmental decline.
As part of the project’s next phase, Cabinet approved the formation of a Restoration Task Force composed of key stakeholders, including representatives from academia, the private sector, and civil society.
The Task Force will play a central role in overseeing implementation, offering guidance, and ensuring accountability as the project advances.
