By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): The week begins on a cloudy and wet note as the National Meteorological Service reports that moist and unstable conditions continue to affect Belize.
According to forecaster Francisca Wellington, skies will remain mostly cloudy today and tonight, accompanied by showers, thunderstorms, and periods of rain throughout the country, particularly over northern and central regions.
Winds will be from the east to southeast at 10 to 20 knots, producing choppy seas with wave heights between three and five feet. Temperatures will peak at 92°F inland, 87°F along the coast, and 80°F in the hills, while nighttime lows will dip to 72°F inland, 78°F along the coast, and 68°F in elevated areas.
In the wider tropical region, forecasters are monitoring a broad area of low pressure (AL95) over the tropical central Atlantic, which continues to produce disorganized showers and thunderstorms. The system has a medium chance of development within the next two days but does not pose any threat to Belize.
Forecasters expect similar conditions on Tuesday, with no significant changes in the weather pattern. The public is encouraged to stay alert for brief heavy showers and to take precautions when traveling, particularly in flood-prone zones.
