By Breaking Belize News Staff: Belize is waking up to another cloudy morning with scattered showers and thunderstorms, particularly affecting the central and northern districts. According to the National Meteorological Service, moist and unstable conditions are still influencing the weather, but some improvements are expected later today.
Today’s forecast calls for cloudy skies with sunny breaks and occasional periods of rain and thunderstorms, which will gradually decrease in intensity during the afternoon. Tonight, showers will be generally isolated, with a few more concentrated in southern Belize.
The latest advisory includes an Excessive Rainfall Warning for parts of the Toledo and Stann Creek districts, where rainfall of around four inches has already been recorded over the past 24 to 36 hours. An additional 2 to 3 inches is expected over these areas, as well as parts of Belize and Orange Walk districts over the next six hours. Residents in flood-prone areas are urged to remain alert and monitor updates from the National Hydrological Service.
Marine conditions remain moderately rough, with winds from the east at 10 to 20 knots and waves ranging from 4 to 7 feet. A Small Craft Caution is in effect due to locally rough seas and gusty winds, especially near heavy showers and thunderstorms.
On Sunday, the forecast suggests a slight improvement, with a few showers and isolated thunderstorms expected to affect most areas during the day, and lingering mostly over the southern districts by nightfall.
