Another week, another government U-turn.

The prime minister this week announced that secondary school pupils will have to wear face coverings at school in high-risk areas of England, after the government had previously ruled out the measure.

Elsewhere, Donald Trump continued his no-holds-barred campaign for reelection, taking to the stage on the final night of the Republican convention to declare that he “profoundly” accepts the party’s nomination for the November election.

In some good news, the World Health Organization officially declared the entire continent of Africa free of wild Type 1 polio, pushing the world to the brink of total eradication.
