By Aaron Humes: Police are investigating an apparent drowning in the village of Gracie Rock, Belize District.
This morning after 11 police visited Samuels Farm which is located on the riverside, where the lifeless body of a Kriol teenager was seen lying face up, covered with a red sheet on the bank of the river.
Initial investigation revealed that Queen Street Baptist Church was hosting a Baptism/Picnic.
After the 16-year-old was baptized the group went swimming. About 10 minutes later other members of the group saw the teenager going under the water; he did not resurface. The body was then taken out by some persons in the area who then called for police assistance. No signs of injury were observed.
The teenager’s body now lies at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) morgue awaiting a post-mortem examination.
This latest tragedy for the church follows the early morning fire that destroyed its premises earlier this month.
