Queen of the Bay sashing ceremony held today inside Town Council offices

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Today, the San Ignacio and Santa Elena Town Council hosted the sashing ceremony for the Queen of the Bay that will represent the Twin Towns.

Traditionally, the pageant selects a local delegate to compete in the National Queen of the Bay event.

This year, however, no organizing committee has been formed, and therefore, there was NO pageant. 

Instead, the representative for the Queen of the Bay from San Ignacio and Santa Elena, Tanisha Clare had to select a delegate without holding a pageant. 

The former Queen of the Bay for San Ignacio and Santa Elena along with Councilors and Mayor Earl Trapp attended the sashing ceremony inside the offices of the Town Council.

Many comments on social media criticized the manner in which the delegate was chosen and sashed without a pageant.
