By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Premier Women’s League of Belize (PWLB) 2025-2026 Closing Championship resumes this weekend with the start of the second round, following the pause to accommodate the Belize Women’s National Team (BWNT) as they continued their campaign in the Concacaf W Qualifiers. The focus now shifts back to the domestic title race, where all four clubs remain tightly grouped after three rounds.
How the second round begins
The weekend opens with Corozal Elite FC, currently on two points, returning home to the People’s Stadium on Saturday in search of their first win of the Closing Championship. They face Napoles FC, who lead the league with five points after a strong first round highlighted by their 4–1 victory over Jewel Fury. Corozal Elite drew their first two matches before falling 3–1 to Sagitun GIRLZ in Week 3, and a home win on Saturday would pull them right back into contention. Napoles, meanwhile, can strengthen their hold on first place with another positive result.

The second Saturday match features Sagitun GIRLZ ay home at the Michael Ashcorft Stadium in Independence. The Sagit GILRZ currently sport four points and enter the second round with renewed momentum after their 3–1 win in Orange Walk. They host Jewel Fury, also on four points, in a matchup that could reshape the table. Fury opened the season with a win and a draw before stumbling in Week 3, while Sagi GIRLZ have rediscovered their scoring touch through goals from Mikhaila Bowden, Premille Hope, and Shante Chacón. With both clubs just one point behind Napoles, this fixture carries major implications for the title race.
The standings remain tight—Napoles (5 pts), Sagitun GIRLZ (4 pts), Jewel Fury (4 pts), Corozal Elite (2 pts)—ensuring that the second round begins with all four clubs still fully alive in the championship.
