By Zoila Palma: As Belize prepares for the upcoming general elections on March 12, 2025, the People’s United Party (PUP) is unveiling key initiatives under its Plan Belize 2.0 for its second term in office, focusing on technology and the growth of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).
A standout feature of this plan is the introduction of Digital Connect Centers in remote communities across Belize.
This initiative aims to provide high-speed internet and devices, offering residents access to essential online resources for learning and development.
These centers are especially focused on providing students with secure, information-friendly workspaces to complete post-school assignments and projects, helping bridge the digital divide in underserved areas.
The PUP administration is also prioritizing the growth of entrepreneurship and MSME’s- small businesses.
Through Beltraide, the government is offering continuous training, guidance, and grants to help entrepreneurs thrive.
The initiative also includes annual roadshows that bring assistance directly to local communities. These roadshows focus on helping businesses formalize, improve their social media marketing, and enhance their product packaging, ensuring that small businesses are better equipped to compete in the market.
