Punta Gorda road policing operation targets traffic violations and highway safety

By Belize Live News Staff: Police and transport officials conducted a joint road policing operation in Punta Gorda and surrounding areas on Friday, January 2nd, 2026.

The operation was carried out by the Punta Gorda Road Policing Unit in collaboration with Department of Transport wardens. Highway patrols were conducted along the Thomas Vincent Ramos Highway from Punta Gorda Town to the San Marcus Junction. In addition, police patrolled several streets within Punta Gorda Town, including Prince Street, Orange Walk Street, George Price Street, José María Núñez Street, Queen Street, King Street, the Central Park area, and the Indianville Extension.

Police report that the operation was conducted without incident and concluded peacefully.

As a result of the patrol, two traffic violations were recorded. Trevor Roches was issued a traffic violation ticket for failing to obey a traffic sign, while Carlos Mis was ticketed for carrying excessive passengers on a motorcycle.

Police say road policing efforts will continue as part of ongoing initiatives to improve traffic safety.
