By Zoila Palma: Punta Gorda Town recorded the highest consumer price increase in Belize for August 2025, with an inflation rate of 2.7%, according to the Statistical Institute of Belize (SIB).
San Pedro followed with 2.3% inflation.
Residents in these municipalities faced above-average price hikes across a range of goods and services, including food, non-alcoholic beverages, dining at restaurants and cafés, LPG, personal care items, school uniforms, men’s footwear, domestic services, and cigarettes.
Meanwhile, Orange Walk Town experienced the lowest inflation rate in the country, posting a slight year-over-year decrease of 0.2%.
Consumers there benefited from lower prices on fuel, female garments, fresh vegetables, cigarettes, and household cleaning and maintenance products.
