Protected Areas Conservation Trust provides technical equipment to Town Councils

By Zoila Palma: On November 11, 2025, the Protected Areas Conservation Trust (PACT) provided the Benque Viejo Town Council and town councils throughout Belize with technical equipment.

The equipment included laptops, monitors, and accessories to facilitate the use of Geographic Information System (GIS) software, this with the aim of improving climate resilience in municipalities.

Mayor of Benque Viejo Jorge Rosales was present to receive the equipment.

“These tools will enhance Belize’s ability to collect, manage, analyze, and visualize spatial data, supporting informed decision-making to safeguard the country’s environment,” the Benque Viejo Town Council said.

The initiative was made possible through support from the Green Climate Fund Readiness 10 Programme, executed by PACT in partnership with the Ministry of Economic Transformation, Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing, Ministry of Natural Resources, Petroleum, and Mining, and the Belize Association of Professional Planners.
