By Aaron Humes: While the matter is before the courts, a settlement offer is on the table from Brads’ Gaming Company to the Government of Belize concerning the cancelation of licenses for Boledo, lottery, Pick 3, and Fantasy 5 which were canceled in May and June of last year.
CEO in the Office of the Prime Minister Narda Garcia told LOVE FM’s Morning Show on Monday that she was not at liberty to further discuss the matter as it was still before the courts.
She did note that there was some back and forth between the Attorney General and Senior Counsel Dean Barrow who represents Brads’.
The Government was seeking a review of taxes paid by Brads’ at the time of the renewal of the license in 2020 up to its cancelation for breach of terms and conditions three years later.
Barrow had previously said the company was not seeking a return of its license for Boledo and lottery but was expected to be compensated for its losses. The Pick 3 and Fantasy 5 licenses were reinstated late last year.
