Prime Minister John Briceño to address Belize Livestock Producers Association at Annual General Meeting on Saturday

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Prime Minister John Briceño will be the main speaker at the Belize Livestock Producers Association (BLPA) Annual General Meeting on Saturday.

The BLPA will also make a special presentation to Prime Minister Briceño.

The 45^th BLPA AGM will be held at the BLPA headquarters in Belmopan, located at Mile 47.5 on the George Price Highway.

The AGM will feature a presentation by the Belize Agricultural Health Authority (BAHA) on the New World screwworm outbreak in Costa Rica and their measures to contain its entry into Belize. BAHA has increased its surveillance measures to prevent the spread of the parasitic fly that affects livestock.

BAHA will also update the members on the current situation of the cattle trade with Mexico, which has been ongoing for several years.

The BLPA invited all its members to attend the event and participate in the elections of a new board.

The AGM will also include a raffle of a Nelore bull and a Brahman heifer.

Incidentally, the BLPA informs its members that no permits or cattle tags will be issued on Saturday due to the AGM.
