By Zoila Palma: Today, Prime Minister John Briceno extended prayers for Taiwan as super typhoon Bavi nears the country.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Taiwan as they prepare for the approaching typhoon. Wishing everyone strength, safety, and a swift recovery from any impacts,” PM Briceno said.
Typhoon Bavi is forecast to bring extreme rain to Taiwan before making landfall in eastern China.
The massive storm is described as one of the largest in decades.
The U.S. Joint Typhoon Warning Center said the typhoon has expanded to more than 1,000 kilometers wide, prompting the cancellation of more than 180 flights.
