By Zoila Palma: Prime Minister John Briceno has expressed disappointment in the decision made by former PUP Area Representative Elvia Vega Samos to run Independent in Corozal Bay.

The Prime Minister says that the PUP convention was held fairly and Vega Samos lost.

“She lost decisively, it is not even that close. I wish she would rethink it is still not too late, she could still withdraw her nomination and she could give support to Thea. Thea like her is a woman and we need to support each other and that is the problem that I see in many instances, women don’t support women,” PM Briceno said.

The Prime Minister says that he hopes Vega Samos would reconsider.

Vega-Samos has since responded saying that it is too late for the PM’s disappointment.

“Where was your disappointment when I was being bullied, unfairly challenged and ousted from my constituency by your CEO and her daughter?

Where were you when the now Standard Bearer was working against me and not supporting me?

Where were you when she was giving out jobs?,” Vega Samos said.

In addition, Vega Samos questioned if the PM’s disappointment is because, “Disappointed that I did not allow your CEO and her daughter to bully me further?

Disappointed that I am prepared to stand up for the 1200 voters to give them a voice and vote?

Disappointed that I prefer to stand on my two strong feet and not bend down to the forces that be to make it in the political arena?”

Vega Samos reiterated that it is “too late to be disappointed in this strong, defiant and Independent woman!!”
