By Zoila Palma: On March 3, 2025, Prime Minister John Briceno met with key stakeholders to discuss the future of Belize’s sugar industry, focusing on creating a strategic action plan for its sustainable development.
“Following the Commission of Inquiry for Sugar, we now move towards taking action for the continued sustainable development within the sector. I had a first meeting with the working group as the work commences,” said Prime Minister Briceno.
The Working Group includes representatives from all Cane Farmers Associations, ASR/BSI, and other essential sector bodies and experts.
Their collaboration aims to ensure a sustainable future for Belize’s vital sugar industry.
