By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Prime Minister John Briceño has appointed Dr. Harold A. Young as Belize’s new Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva.
Dr. Young presented his credentials on Monday, February 16, 2026, to H.E. Tatiana Valovaya, Director General of the UN Office in Geneva.
He brings extensive academic experience, having served as an Associate Professor of Political Science and Public Management at Austin Peay State University. He has also served as an advisor to the Department of History at the University of Belize.
Dr. Young earned a PhD in Public Law from Georgia State University in 2016. His doctoral research examined the role of extraterritorial courts, with a focus on the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council.
He is also a published author on subjects including history, law, and politics.
In addition to his role at the UN Office in Geneva, he will be nominated for accreditation to the World Trade Organization.
