Prime Minister and Pope discuss commitment of Church in education and care for migrants

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today, Prime Minister of Belize met with His Holiness Pope Francis at the Vatican Apostolic Palace in Rome.

Thereafter, the Prime Minister met with His Excellency Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations at the Secretariat of State.

“We expressed mutual satisfaction for our shared good relations and discussed the commitment of the Holy Church in education and care for migrants, the contribution that the Catholic Church and Christian values can offer for the common good of our people of Belize,” the Prime Minister said.

Discussions also included Belize’s current socio-political issues, emphasizing the contribution that the Catholic Church and Christian values, present in Belizean society, can offer for the common good of the population.
