By Zoila Palma: New data from the Statistical Institute of Belize (SIB) shows that the cost of common meat products increased across most categories in October 2025 compared to the same month last year.
Ground beef saw a modest increase of 2.6 percent, rising from $7.46 per pound in October 2024 to $7.66 per pound in October 2025.
Beef steak prices increased more sharply, climbing 8.3 percent to $10.98 per pound from $10.14.
Whole chicken saw a small uptick of 1.3 percent, from $3.19 to $3.23 per pound, while chicken cuts remained largely unchanged, dipping slightly by 0.3 percent to $3.70 per pound.
Other chicken products experienced higher increases.
Chicken legs rose 2.8 percent to $3.66 per pound, wings climbed 4.1 percent to $7.02, and chicken breast increased 3.7 percent to $4.92 per pound.
Neck and back cuts also went up 2.2 percent, reaching $1.32 per pound.
