By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Napoles FC, current leaders of the Premier Women’s League of Belize, are making their case loud and clear: their starting goalkeeper, Dennisa Pineda—currently third in the pecking order for the Belize Women’s National Team (BWNT)—should be considered for the No. 1 jersey.
Following her standout performance in Saturday’s 2–0 win over reigning Premier Women’s League of Belize (PWLB) champions Sagitun GIRLZ, Napoles FC took to social media with a bold declaration:
“With two tremendous saves, Dennisa Pineda ensured that the team kept a clean sheet and the win!”
But the post didn’t stop there. It was a full-throated endorsement of their goalkeeper’s rise to prominence.
“It is now undeniably clear that Dennisa is not only the future of female goalkeeping, she is the NOW! She has the height, athleticism, reflexes, and composure! This is her time! There are eras in football, and Dennisa is showing every game this is her time! The best female goalkeeper in Belize at the moment! She has shown her dominance this season!”
Through four matches, Pineda has conceded just one goal—an extraordinary record in a league where attacking talent is on full display. Napoles consider that her clean sheet against Sagitun GIRLZ, led by current BWNT starter Jasmin Armstrong, was not just a personal triumph—it was a direct challenge to the status quo.

Armstrong, formerly of Jewel Fury and now with Sagitun GIRLZ, has long held the top spot in Belize’s national team setup. She has been seconded by Jewel Fury’s Idania Ramirez.
But with Napoles now leading the PWLB standings with 12 points and a +28 goal difference, the conversation is shifting. At least her team Napoles think so. Pineda’s consistency, command, and confidence are drawing attention—and her club is pushing for recognition.
Napoles’ push for Pineda to become the BWNT’s starting goalkeeper comes as the Belize Women’s National Team prepare for the Concacaf W Qualifiers, which kick off next month. Belize will host Haiti on Sunday, November 30 at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan, followed by three more fixtures through April 2026. The timing adds urgency to the debate, as selectors finalize their squad for the international campaign.
While Napoles are vocal in their support, it’s worth noting that both Jasmin Armstrong and Idania Ramirez have been doing a good job in goal. Ultimately, the decision rests with the BWNT coaching staff, who will weigh all options as they prepare for a crucial qualifying run.
Whether selectors will respond remains to be seen, but Napoles FC have made their stance clear: the era of Dennisa Pineda has arrived.
