By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Sagitun GIRLZ capped off an unbeaten regular season in the Premier Women’s League of Belize (PWLB) with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Napoles FC at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan on Sunday.
Napoles FC entered the match determined to halt Sagitun GIRLZ’s perfect run, but the league leaders were too tough.
Sagitun GIRLZ struck first when Kenya Perez opened the scoring in the 36th minute, setting the tone for what would be a dramatic match. Moments later, Jolene Aranda doubled the lead in the 39th minute, putting Napoles under early pressure.
However, Napoles fought back, refusing to let Sagitun GIRLZ run away with the game. Roshanny Narvaez pulled one back in first-half stoppage time (45+4), giving Napoles momentum going into the second half. Ten minutes after the restart, Heidy Lopez found the equalizer in the 54th minute, bringing Napoles level and intensifying the contest.
With the game hanging in the balance, Sagitun GIRLZ needed a breakthrough. Aranda answered the call, securing her brace with a decisive goal in the 69th minute to restore her team’s lead. Napoles pushed for another equalizer, but Sagitun GIRLZ held firm until the final whistle

With this victory, Sagitun GIRLZ finished in first place, completing the regular season unbeaten with 16 points from five wins and one draw. The southerners continues to shine, having netted 26 goals while conceding just four. Jewel Fury FC finished in second place, trailing by three points.
Napoles FC ended the regular season in third place with six points from two wins and four losses. They scored 15 goals while conceding 14.
With the regular season now complete, the PWLB shifts into the semifinal stage. Sagitun GIRLZ will take on fourth-place Cayo Dreamers, while second-place Jewel Fury will face third-place Napoles FC in a crucial matchup.
