By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Premier Women’s League of Belize (PWLB) returns this weekend with six clubs set to contest the 2025–2026 Opening Season. Defending champions Sagitun Girlz FC headline the launch, aiming to retain their crown in a tournament designed to display national talent and deepen the roots of women’s football across Belize.
The season opens on Saturday, September 13, and runs through December 20, featuring a double round-robin format. Each team will face every other club twice — home and away — with the top four advancing to the semi-finals, played over two legs. The final will be a single-match at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan.

- Sagitun Girlz FC (defending champions)
- Jewel Fury FC
- Jaguar Girls FC
- Cayo Dreamers FC
- Napoles FC
- Corozal Elite
Sagitun Girlz claimed their first PWLB title with a 2–0 aggregate win over Napoles FC. They secured the advantage in the first leg thanks to goals from Danellie Black and Karisha Coe, then held firm in the second leg with a 0–0 draw at Michael Ashcroft Stadium. Despite Napoles pressing for a comeback, Sagitun’s defense — led by goalkeeper Jasmin Armstrong and defenders Jasha Bernardez, Premille Hope, Marceli Mar, and MVP Karisha Coe — kept the clean sheet that sealed the championship.
Opening Fixtures:
Sagitun GIRLZ open their campaign at home in Independence, facing Jaguar Girls FC in a rematch of last season’s semi-final. Meanwhile, Jewel Fury and Cayo Dreamers clash in Belmopan, and Napoles host Corozal Elite in Orange Walk.
