By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Napoles FC continued their flawless run in the Premier Women’s League of Belize (PWLB) with a commanding 2–0 victory over reigning champions Sagitun GIRLZ FC on Saturday, silencing the home crowd in Independence and anchoring their position at the top of the standings.
The win marks Napoles’ fourth consecutive triumph, extending their perfect record to 12 points from four matches. With 29 goals scored and only one conceded, the Belize City-based squad have not only outpaced the competition but also sent a clear message: the title race is theirs to lose.
Saturday’s clash was billed as a litmus test for Napoles, who faced a Sagitun side unbeaten at home and eager to defend their crown. But Napoles delivered with clinical precision, netting once in each half and neutralizing Sagitun’s attacking threats throughout. The result dropped Sagitun GIRLZ to third place with seven points, behind Corozal Elite (9 pts), who trail Napoles by three.
That gap could narrow on Sunday, when Napoles travel north to face Corozal Elite and their standout striker Kaite Jones in what promises to be another top-tier showdown. Jones, who has already netted multiple goals this season, will be looking to crack Napoles’ near-impenetrable defense and keep Corozal’s title hopes alive.
But Napoles aren’t just riding momentum—they’re powered by a formidable core. Jayda Brown and Khalydia Velasquez lead the line with pace and precision, while Ashley Rodríguez and captain Roshanny Narváez anchor the midfield with poise and control. The quartet has become the backbone of Napoles’ success.
With momentum in their favour, Napoles FC now look ahead to Sunday’s clash with Corozal Elite as another chance to prove their mettle—and perhaps widen the gap at the summit.
Sagitun GIRLZ, now third with their seven points have a positive goal difference of +3, but Saturday’s loss exposed vulnerabilities. Jaguar Girls FC follow in fourth with three points, having secured a single win but struggling defensively with 16 goals conceded.
Jewel Fury FC sit fifth with three points as well, while Cayo Dreamers FC remain winless and goalless at the bottom of the table, having conceded a staggering 36 goals in four matches.
