By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Premier Women’s League of Belize (PWLB) leaders Sagitun GIRLZ will be out to reinforce their status at the top of the standings when they face Cayo Dreamers at Santa Elena Sports Complex at 4:00 pm on Sunday.
Sagitun GIRLZ stunned the league last weekend, defeating reigning champions Jewel Fury 3-0 in a commanding performance that solidified their place at the summit with ten points. Their victory highlighted their defensive strength and attacking prowess, boasting an impressive 16 goals scored and only 2 conceded. As they prepare to kick off Round 2, they’ll look to build on their momentum against a struggling Cayo Dreamers squad.
For Cayo Dreamers, the season has been rough. They are yet to secure a point and sit at the bottom of the table after suffering a 9-0 defeat to Napoles FC last weekend. With 27 goals conceded, their defense will have to put in a huge effort to contain Sagitun GIRLZ, who have been ruthless in front of goal. However, a strong home performance could spark an upset and shift their season’s trajectory.
Saturday, Jewel Fury shook Napoles FC 4-1 and now total points in second place.
