Premier Women’s League of Belize: Champions Sagitun GIRLZ now lead 2025/26 Opening Season

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The reigning champions Sagitun GIRLZ are the new leaders of the Premier Women’s League of Belize (PWLB) after a commanding 8–0 victory over the Cayo Dreamers on Wednesday night at the FFB Field in Belmopan. The back match, originally postponed earlier in the season, saw Sagitun unleash their full attacking arsenal to climb to the top of the standings on goal difference.

With six points and a +13 goal difference, the defending champions now sit ahead of Napoles FC and Corozal Elite FC, both also unbeaten but trailing on goal differential. Sagitun’s perfect defensive record — zero goals conceded — reinforces their title aspirations as the season heats up.

Napoles FC and Corozal Elite FC remain close behind, each with two wins from two outings and impressive goal margins. The top three are now locked on six points, setting up a competitive race for playoff positioning.

At the other end of the table, Jaguar Girls FC, Jewel Fury FC, and Cayo Dreamers have all suffered back-to-back defeats. Jaguar Girls have scored twice but conceded ten, while Jewel Fury — a former PWLB champion and one of Belize’s most decorated women’s clubs — have yet to find the net. Cayo Dreamers, meanwhile, have allowed a league-high 14 goals and are still searching for their first point and first goal of the season.

With all teams now having played two matches, the PWLB table is beginning to take shape. The top three are unbeaten, while the bottom three are still chasing their first win — setting the stage for a pivotal set of matches this coming weekend.
