By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Premier Women’s League of Belize champions Sagitun GIRLZ pulled off a crucial 2–1 victory over leaders Napoles at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan on Saturday, November 22, 2025, making their payback complete deep in the season.
The GIRLZ struck first in the 17th minute through Mikhaila Bowden, but Napoles equalized around the 70th via Khalydia Velasquez. With the match balanced, Kenya Pérez delivered the decisive strike in the 85th minute to secure the win.
This triumph was especially sweet for Sagitun, who had fallen 2–0 to Napoles in the first round at the Michael Ashcroft Stadium in Independence on October 4, when Roshanny Narváez (12’) and Khalydia Velasquez (17’) scored early. At that time, Sagitun were still reeling from the loss of Rodriguez and defender Jasha Bermudez, who had joined Napoles just before the season started.
With Saturday’s victory and just one game left before the PLB Regular Season concludes, Sagitun GIRLZ now stand on 22 points, only two behind Napoles on 24.
And while the regular season may be finishing, the championship is far from over — with the semifinals and finals still to come, the title race remains wide open.
