By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Week 10 of the Premier League of Belize 2025–2026 Opening Championship will see Wagiya host Belmopan FC at the Carl Ramos Stadium in Dangriga on Saturday, October 11 at 4:00 pm, following confirmation of the fixture date.
Wagiya had requested the Saturday slot to avoid overlapping with the Belize Men’s National Team (BMNT) friendly against Venezuela scheduled for Tuesday, October 14 in Chicago. With BMNT players in their lineup, Wagiya sought to field a full-strength squad before national team travel begins.
Belmopan FC initially held off on agreeing to the change, citing uncertainty around the BMNT’s travel schedule, which could affect either Saturday or Sunday. However, the match has now been locked in for Saturday.
On the pitch, both clubs are neck-and-neck in the standings, separated by just one point and sporting similar win-loss records. Wagiya have been formidable at home and have netted 11 goals, though their -3 goal difference reveals defensive vulnerabilities. Belmopan FC, with a game in hand and a +5 goal difference, have shown greater balance and could leap into the top three with a win—especially if Progresso stumble in Belmopan.
