By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Champions Verdes FC return to action on Wednesday night when they face Port Layola FC in the rescheduled Premier League of Belize Closing Championship fixture at the Marion Jones Sports Complex in Belize City. The match was postponed on Sunday due to the unavailability of the venue.
Verdes enter the midweek encounter sitting second with 12 points from four matches, having won all their games so far. Their +9 goal difference reflects the league’s strongest defensive and attacking balance to this point, and a win on Wednesday would take them back to the top of the standings.
Port Layola, meanwhile, stand fifth with 6 points from two wins and three losses. Their –5 goal difference highlights the inconsistency that has marked their campaign, but playing at home gives them a chance to steady their footing and close the gap on the top four.
The match is scheduled for:
Marion Jones Sports Complex, Belize City
Wednesday, 7:30 PM
With Progresso now leading the league on 13 points, Verdes will be aiming to reclaim first place, while Port Layola look to revive their push for a playoff position.
