Premier League of Belize: Verdes run over Wagiya 5-0 in Week 3, retain lead

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Verdes trampled Wagiya 5-0 on Sunday continuing their undefeated start to the Premier League of Belize 2023-24 Closing Championship with a third consecutive victory.

Argentine Matías Verón led the Verdes onslaught with a brace scored in the 30^th and 87^th minutes in the match held on Sunday at the Norman Broaster Stadium in San Ignacio.

Alence Ayala opened the scoring in the 19^th minute. Darrel Myvett scored the third goal in the 33^rd minute and Jordy Polanco in the 58^th.

Verdes continue leading the PLB with nine points ahead on goal difference over Benque Viejo United who also have nine points.

In the other weekend games, on Saturday, Benque Viejo United won 3-1 on the road over the Belmopan Bandits 3-1 at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan, Port Layola beat Police Benque 3-1 at the Edmund Marshalleck Stadium in Benque Viejo del Carmen, and Progresso drew 2-2 draw against champions Altitude at the People’s Stadium in Orange Walk.
