By Rubén Morales Iglesias: 2024-2025 Premier League of Belize Closing Champions Verdes resume domestic duties on Sunday when they travel south to face Wagiya at the Carl Ramos Stadium in Dangriga. Kick-off is set for 4:00 pm.
Verdes did not feature in last weekend’s PLB fixtures, but they remain unbeaten with four points from two matches. Their last league outing was a 7–0 win over Capital Sport Club in San Ignacio, where they dominated from start to finish. Midweek, Verdes travelled to Costa Rica for a Central American Cup fixture, suffering an 8–1 stunning defeat to CS Cartaginés.
Wagiya have lost all three of their matches. Last Saturday, they were beaten 3–0 by Belmopan at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium. Earlier in the season, they fell 2–1 to Napoles and 4–1 to Port Layola. With nine goals conceded and only two scored, Wagiya sit sixth in the standings and are still searching for their first point.
Sunday’s match is Verdes’ first away match this season. Wagiya will need to tighten their defence to contain a Verdes side that has scored eight goals in two league matches.
