Rubén Morales Iglesias: Verdes FC will aim to punch their ticket to the PLB Closing Championship final when they host Progresso FC on Saturday, April 12, at the Edmund Marshalleck Stadium in Benque Viejo del Carmen.
Holding a slim 1-0 lead from their first-leg triumph, Verdes are confident but aware that Progresso FC will throw everything into overturning the deficit.
Krisean Lopez proved decisive in their first encounter, converting a penalty in the 59th minute to seal the win in Orange Walk. Despite Progresso’s aggressive push for an equalizer, Verdes maintained composure, standing firm defensively. Now, back on their home turf, they have the chance to put the series beyond reach.
Progresso FC, on the other hand, will need a focused performance to keep their championship hopes alive. They have shown they can hold their own against Verdes, having played to a 0-0 draw earlier in the regular season. With the series still wide open, the pressure is on, and the intensity will undoubtedly be at its peak come Saturday night.
Meanwhile, the other semifinal clash sees San Pedro Pirates and Port Loyola battling for a place in the final, with their second leg scheduled for Sunday in Belize City.
