By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Verdes defeated Bandits 2-1 on Saturday night at the FFB Stadium, increasing their lead at the top of the Premier League of Belize with 21 points, two more than second-place Port Layola.
Darrel Myvett opened the scoring in the 32nd minute with a well-placed shot that left the Bandits’ goalkeeper with no chance.
Steven Gentle tied it for the Bandits in the 37th minute, capitalizing on a defensive error.
However, Colombian Yubeiquer Arenas secured the victory for Verdes with his goal in the 84th minute from the penalty spot, after a foul in the box.
This win solidifies Verdes’ position as the team to beat this season, showcasing their resilience and tactical prowess.
The Bandits find themselves in the second to last position with just four points from nine games.
