By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Verdes FC secured a convincing 3–0 victory over Wagiya on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at the Edmund Marshalleck Stadium in Benque Viejo del Carmen in the Premier League of Belize 2025–2026 Opening Championship.
The hosts controlled the tempo from the outset and never looked back.
Nahjib Guerra gave Verdes the early lead in the 8th minute. After a composed first half, Felix Martinez doubled the score in the 75th, and Eldon Reneau added the third in stoppage time (90+2) to cap off a dominant performance.
With the win, Verdes continue to build momentum in their title pursuit, now sitting atop the standings with 23 points—six clear of Progresso, who also secured a convincing 5–1 win over Napoles on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Belmopan’s 5–0 thrashing of Capital Sport Club contributed to Wagiya’s slide to fifth place, now sitting on 11 points.
