By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The regular season is officially closed, and the top four clubs are now set to battle for the 2025–2026 Opening Championship title in a home-and-away semifinal round. The format pits 1st vs 4th and 2nd vs 3rd, with the lower-ranked teams hosting the first leg this coming weekend and the higher seeds playing the decisive return leg the following week.

🔹 Semifinal 1:

Verdes FC (1st) vs Belmopan FC (4th)

Verdes, the reigning national champions and winners of last season’s Closing Championship, enter the playoffs unbeaten with 30 points and a +27 goal differential. Belmopan, who finished fourth with 18 points, will host the first leg on Saturday, November 15, before heading to Benque Viejo del Carmen for the return fixture the following week. Verdes are heavy favourites, but Belmopan will be aiming to disrupt the title defense with a strong home showing.

🔹 Semifinal 2:

Port Layola (2nd) vs Progresso FC (3rd)

Port Layola, champions of the 2024–2025 Opening Championship, finished second this season with 21 points and the league’s most potent attack (32 goals). They’ll travel north to face Progresso (20 pts, +15 GD) in the first leg on Sunday, November 16, before returning to Belize City for the decisive match the following Sunday. Progresso have proven resilient and will be eager to avenge last season’s playoff exit.

With the title within reach and every goal carrying weight, fans can expect fiercely competitive football, tactical precision, and playoff-level urgency as the road to the final begins.
