Premier League of Belize: San Pedro Pirates aim to rebound against struggling Wagiya on Sunday

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The San Pedro Pirates will face off against Wagiya SC at 6:00 pm at Ambergris Stadium in San Pedro in the fourth weekend of the Premier League of Belize 2024-2025 Opening Season on Sunday, August 24, 2024.

The Pirates, currently in fourth place with four points and a goal difference of +1, are eager to bounce back after their recent defeat. Despite coming from a one-year hiatus, they aren’t doing too badly. The addition of players from Benque United, such as Moises Hernandez, and Altitude’s Delone ‘Dee Breezy’ Torres and Aldin Forman, has bolstered their squad.

Wagiya SC, the oldest club along with Verdes, are in a longstanding rut despite their efforts. Currently at the bottom of the table with no points and a goal difference of -8, they are desperate to turn their season around and secure their first win.

In other matches this weekend, current undefeated leaders Progresso tackle champions Port Layola at 7:30 pm at the People’s Stadium in Orange Walk on Saturday, while Verdes wrap up against archrivals Belmopan Bandits at 4:00 pm at the Norman Broaster Stadium in San Ignacio on Sunday.
