By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Verdes FC continued their strong form in the Premier League of Belize – 2025–2026 Closing Championship, defeating Progresso FC 2–0 on Saturday night at the Edmund Marshalleck Stadium in Benque Viejo del Carmen.
The champions struck twice in one minute to take early control. Julian Rojas Luna opened the scoring in the 20th minute, and Ronal Benavides added another in the 21st, giving Verdes a 2–0 cushion that held through halftime.
Progresso pushed forward in the second half, but Verdes managed the tempo and protected their lead to secure the victory. With the win, Verdes increase their lead at the top to 18 points and are now 31 matches undefeated in Belize football. Progresso remain in second place with 13 points.
