Rene Leslie Keydenshaay Bowen scores twice as Orange Walk side climbs to second place

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Progresso F.C. earned their first victory of the 2025–2026 Premier League of Belize (PLB) Opening Season in emphatic fashion, crushing Capital Sport Club 5–1 at the People’s Stadium in Orange Walk on Sunday, August 17.
Forward Rene Leslie opened the scoring in the 39th minute and doubled the lead shortly after the break in the 52nd. Though Capital Sport Club pulled one back through Raheem Eagan in the 58th minute, Progresso responded immediately with a goal from Latrell Middleton just two minutes later.
Keydenshaay Bowen sealed the rout with two late goals in stoppage time, scoring in the 90’+5 and, 90’+7 to complete the 5–1 win.
With the result, Progresso now sit second in the PLB standings with five points from one win and two draws. They trail league leaders Napoles (7 points) and are ahead of Verdes, Belmopan, and Port Layola, who each have four.
Capital Sport Club, playing under the Benque Viejo United franchise, suffered their second consecutive defeat after falling 7–0 to Verdes in their season opener.
