Premier League of Belize: Progresso pull off 2-2 draw against Champions Altitude

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Just one week after beating previously undefeated leaders Verdes, Champions Altitude were unable to shake off Progresso and escaped with a 2-2 draw at home at the Michael Ashcroft Stadium in Independence on Saturday night.

Playing their tenth game un the Premier League of Belize 2023-24 Closing Season, Altitude had to play catchup twice.

Kyle Budna gave the visiting Progresso a 1-0 lead in the 11^th minute.

Luis ‘Baca’  Torres levelled the scoring in the 22^nd minute from a superb free left-foot kick which sailed over defenders, forwards and goalkeeper into goal.

A very determined Progresso side again took the lead in the 44^th courtesy of Andir Chi, who smacked a swinging left foot shot into goal after an Altitude defender failed to clear a Progresso free kick.

Again, Altitude fought back and tied the match 2-2 when their captain, Delone ‘Dee Breezy’ Torres shook the net in the 53^rd minute from a double-touch strike in the box hammering a ball punched out by the Progresso goalkeeper.

Altitude move up to 16 points and remain in fourth position while Progresso now have 12 points and hold on to the fifth spot.
