By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Progresso FC secured their first victory of the season with a commanding 5-0 win over Belmopan FC at the People’s Stadium in Orange Walk in Week 2 of the Premier League of Belize 2024-2025 Closing Championship.
Progresso took control early on with goals from Andir Chi in the 3rd minute, Miguel Yco in the 17th minute, and Mexican Luis Felipe Parra García in the 26th minute. The second half continued to be a one-sided affair, with Trimayne ‘Pepa’ Harris adding another goal in the 65th minute and Kyle Budna sealing the victory with a goal in the 90+3.
This impressive performance marks Progresso’s first win of the season and sets a positive tone for their campaign moving forward. For Belmopan, the start has been rather inauspicious despite the change of ownership and revamping, recording their second consecutive loss.
