Premier League of Belize: Progresso look to continue winning streak against Champions Port Layola

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The fourth week of action in the Premier League of Belize 2024-2025 Opening Season kicks off with current undefeated leaders Progresso tackling champions Port Layola at 7:30 pm at the People’s Stadium in Orange Walk on Saturday, August 24, 2024. Progresso, leading the standings with nine points and a goal difference of +4, are on an impressive run this season. They have bolstered their squad with top talents like Tyrone ‘Pepa’ Harris and Michael Palacio from Verdes, aiming to maintain their perfect start.

Port Layola FC, fresh from their Concacaf Central American Cup campaign, are looking to defend their national title despite a challenging international showing. The inclusion of Colombians Oscar Palomino and Miguel Garcia, along with Belizean Rene Leslie from Altitude, has strengthened their squad. Currently in third place with 4 points, Port will aim to build on their recent win and climb higher in the standings.

In other matches this weekend, Verdes take on archrivals Belmopan Bandits at 4:00 pm at the Norman Broaster Stadium in San Ignacio on Sunday. Two hours later, the San Pedro Pirates face off against Wagiya SC at 6:00 pm at Ambergris Stadium in San Pedro.
