Rubén Morales Iglesias: Progresso FC will host defending champions Verdes FC in the first leg of the Premier League of Belize (PLB) Final this Sunday at 3:30 pm at the People’s Stadium in Orange Walk. The return leg is set for Saturday, December 13, at the Edmund Marshalleck Stadium in Benque Viejo del Carmen.
Progresso earned their historic Final berth by defeating Port Layola 4–2 on aggregate in the semifinals. Rene Leslie (#77) and Latrell Middleton (#7) both scored in each leg, with Leslie sealing the first match in Orange Walk and Middleton clinching the second in stoppage time in Belize City.
Alongside them, Keydenshaay Bowen completes Progresso’s attacking triumvirate — a front line whose pace, power, and finishing make them one of the league’s most dangerous units, even if Bowen didn’t find the net in the semis. Together, Leslie, Middleton, and Bowen form the lethal trio that Progresso will depend on in their first‑ever PLB Final

Verdes arrive as the reigning champions after dispatching Belmopan FC 3–1 on aggregate. Captain Jordy Polanco (#10) struck in injury time in the 1-0 first leg, while Jaylen Lennan scored both goals in the 2–1 second‑leg victory in Benque.
Verdes will surely count on their top scorer Desmond Wade, whose finishing has been decisive all season. Supporting him are Krisean Lopez and Paraguayan forward Luis Ibarra, while Nahjib Guerra adds creativity in midfield.
At the back, Verdes rely on the solidity of Mexican Christian Ramírez and Darrel Myvett, with Myvett making his trademark forays into the opponents’ half. In goal, it’s a toss‑up: veteran Woodrow West, Belize’s most decorated shot‑stopper, or Argentine Nahuel Paz, who started in the second semifinal against Belmopan. Everald Trapp offers depth and leadership.
The clash promises fireworks: Progresso, in their first PLB Final, against Verdes, the most decorated side in the league. With Leslie and Middleton in form, Progresso will look to upset the champions, while Verdes rely on their depth, defensive anchors, and attacking firepower to defend their crown.
