By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Port Layola and Napoles FC were originally scheduled to clash at 4:00 pm on Sunday, October 12, at the Marion Jones Sports Complex in Belize City in Week 10 of the Premier League of Belize 2025–2026 Opening Championship. However, the match has now been postponed to Monday, October 13, keeping the same time and venue.
The rescheduling coincides with Indigenous People’s Resistance Day, a national holiday observed on October 12 but officially transferred to Monday since the 12th falls on a Sunday this year. Port Layola requested the change to take advantage of the holiday, and the Premier League of Belize granted permission.
With only two points separating the sides, the Monday battle promises intensity and tactical intrigue in the Old Capital. Port Layola have built their campaign on consistency, registering three wins and three draws from eight matches. Their +2 goal difference reflects a side that grinds out results rather than overwhelms opponents. Napoles, meanwhile, have been unpredictable — capable of brilliance but prone to lapses. With 11 goals scored and a neutral goal difference, they will need discipline and composure to challenge Port Layola’s structured approach. A win for either side could reshape the top half of the table and tighten the race behind leaders Verdes FC.
