Premier League of Belize: Port Layola stun Bandits 3-1, move up to 2nd place

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Port Layola defeated the Belmopan Bandits 3-1nat the FFB Stadium in Belmopan on Saturday night in Week 7 of the Premier League of Belize 2023-24 Closing Championship and moved up to 2nd place in the standings.

The Bandits took a 1-0 lead when Bandits’ Enfield Nunez scored an own goal in the 12’.

After that Port settled down, levelling the game on a penalty kick goal by Latrell Middleton in the 30’.   Orlando Velasquez scored the winning goal in the 68’ and Wayne Ford secured the victory in the 78’

Coupled with Benque Viejo United’s 3-1 loss to Verdes, Port climbed to second place with 15 points, two more than Benque Viejo United.

In the other weekend game, Progresso and Police Benque drew 0-0. The match between Wagiya and Altitude was postponed.
