By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Port Layola defeated Benque Viejo United 1-0 in Week 6 of the Premier League of Belize 2023-24 Closing Championship at the Marion Jones Sports Complex in Belize City on Sunday.

Orlando Velasquez converted the only goal of the match in the 32’.

Port moved up to 12 points but are still in third place, one point shy of Benque Viejo United.

Benque retained the second spot with their 13 points but are no longer undefeated. Verdes are now the only undefeated team.

In the other weekend games, Altitude beat Police Benque 2-1 in Benque Viejo del Carmen on Saturday night. On Sunday, Verdes stunned Progresso 4-1 in San Ignacio and Wagiya made a spectacular comeback beating Bandits 3-1 in Dangriga.
