By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Port Layola barely managed a 0-0 draw against the San Pedro Pirates in the opening of the six-team 2024-2025 Premier League of Belize (PLB) Opening Season on Sunday at the Marion Jones Sports Complex in Belize City.
The result is rather worrisome for Port Layola, who are preparing for their second game in the CONCACAF Central American Cup. On Thursday, they will be matching up against Honduran club Olimpia, a quite formidable opponent, at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan.
Meanwhile, for the San Pedro Pirates, the scoreless draw is not a bad result considering they are returning after a one-year hiatus from the Premier League of Belize.
In the season opener on Saturday, Progresso overpowered the Belmopan Bandits 3-0 in Orange Walk, while in the second game on Sunday, Verdes punished Wagiya 7-0 in San Ignacio.
