By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Port Layola FC unleashed a scoring storm at the Marion Jones Sports Complex in Belize City on Sunday, dismantling Capital Sport Club 10–0 in the most lopsided results of the Premier League of Belize 2025–2026 season.
Prior to this weekend, the widest margins of victory had been 7–0 wins by Verdes and Napoles over Capital Sport Club. This weekend also saw second-place Progresso FC whip Wagiya SC 8–1 in Orange Walk, further highlighting the league’s high-scoring trend.
Gilroy Thurton opened the floodgates with goals in the 7th and 32nd minutes. Michael Palacio followed with strikes in the 43rd and 60th. Ernesto Caicedo (48’), Trimayne Harris (57’), Enfield Nunez (71’, 75’), Shawn Young (82’), and Akeem Sunderland (85’) all joined the scoring parade.
The win lifts Port Layola to 18 points from 10 matches, keeping them in third place—two points behind Progresso (20) and six behind leaders Verdes FC (24). Capital Sport Club remain winless and rooted to the bottom of the table.
Elsewhere in Week 7, Progresso FC routed Wagiya SC 8–1 in Orange Walk, while Belmopan FC and Verdes FC battled to a 1–1 draw at Isidoro Beaton Stadium.
