Premier League of Belize: Port Layola crush Police Benque 3-1

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Port Layola downed Police Benque (Club Deportivo Benque) 3-1 at the Edmund Marshalleck Stadium in Benque Viejo del Carmen in the third week of the Premier League of Belize 2023-24 Closing Championship.

The game started out with blistering speed with Port going ahead in the very first minute when Latrell Middleton scored the earliest goal in the season after just 28 seconds. Jarret Davis made it 2-zip in the 7^th minute and Shawn Young put it away in the 31^st.

Richard ‘Cheety’ Jimenez discounted for Police Benque in the 60^th minute.

Despite the efforts by both sides, the last 30 minutes went goalless.

Port now total six points and sit in third place while Police Benque find themselves in the cellar without any points.

In the other weekend games, on Saturday, Benque Viejo United dumped the Belmopan Bandits 3-2 on their home turf, the Isidoro Beaton Stadium, in Belmopan and Progresso drew 2-2 draw against champions Altitude at the People’s Stadium in Orange Walk. On Sunday, Verdes dumped Wagiya 5-0 at the Norman Broaster Stadium in San Ignacio .
