By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belmopan play host to Verdes in a must-win encounter in Week 10 of the Premier League of Belize 2024-2025 Closing Championship. The clash is set for Saturday, 29 March, at 7:30 pm at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan.
Verdes, currently second in the standings with 16 points, are vying to cement their position and secure home-field advantage for the playoffs. Meanwhile, fourth-placed Belmopan, holding 10 points, face a must-win scenario to preserve their postseason hopes.
Belmopan’s shocking 3-1 victory over Verdes in mid-February in Benque Viejo del Carmen was a turn-around moment for them after a slow start. Another win over the Green Machine will guarantee them a playoff spot.
With Verdes only two points ahead of third-placed Progresso, they must win to ensure they don’t slip in the rankings. At the same time, Belmopan, who recently overtook the San Pedro Pirates for fourth place, cannot afford to falter if they wish to retain their postseason hopes. Expect a fierce contest as both sides chase crucial outcomes.
