By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Premier League of Belize (PLB) Opening Championship Final second leg is heating up at the Edmund Marshalleck Stadium. After 75 minutes, Verdes FC still lead Progresso FC 1–0 thanks to Eldon Reneau’s 43rd‑minute strike, but the challengers are showing signs of frustration as time ticks away.
The Goal & Change
Reneau’s opener gave Verdes control, but he was replaced in the 55th minute by star striker Desmond Wade, who immediately added pace and threat to the champions’ attack.
Progresso’s Struggle
Progresso, chasing history in their first PLB Final, appear frustrated down the stretch. Top scorer Latrell Middleton has been left isolated, and despite his efforts, clear chances have been scarce. The tension is visible as Progresso push forward but struggle to break down Verdes’ organized defense.
The Stakes
Verdes are aiming for their eighth national crown, while Progresso must find a breakthrough to keep their dream alive. With the aggregate now 1–0 in Verdes’ favor, the final minutes will decide whether experience or hunger prevails in Belize’s biggest football stage.
